Blackbird
This is a continental male Blackbird. The only way of telling this is by wing length. I was present when the ringers caught this a few days ago and when they measured its biometrics they found that the wing length was quite a bit longer than our Blackbirds, indicative of the fact that it came from continental Europe, possibly Scandinavia. If it came from Scandinavia it would have come in with the thousands of Redwings and Fieldfares that have reached our shores in the last two or three weeks.
The fact that it has a golden ring round its eye indicates that it is a full grown male and not a male that hatched out this summer.
