Is this no longer a Jarvis bar?

This is a tribute to Jarvisness, a so far thorough and fascinating manifesto of "the Jarvis", who I discover from this excellent diary, has two principal interests: travel and beer.

So this is the Holyrood 9A, to where I snuck on my lunch break for a snucky, sneaky, last-Saturday-at-the-paper-before-Xmas pint. It used to be (I think) a Jarvis bar, when it was populated by metal heads, Goths and varied cultish types until it got a makeover. Now I am convinced it is no longer a Jarvis bar - for one, I drank Staropramen; for two, it is often so person-deep at the counter you can barely get served, never mind finding somewhere to consume your hard-won ale afterwards. However, I shall contact the Jarvis expert for a proper reading and hope he or she provides one.

Of course, a cheeky lunchtime pint in the newspaper business used to be a crucial part of the the job, no sneaky-snooky about it. But, alas, those days are behind us and your morning news in these times, such as it is, has generally been brought to you unimproved by alcohol.

The only other real alternative to the 9A in this part of Edinburgh is the Tolbooth, which I believe must surely be a Jarvis bar, but I could be wrong.
