Even a short walk becomes a trek in this snow. I walked Crantit to Scapa, then the cliffs on the west shore. I saw a couple of hares in the snow, but three others had moved to the beach to forage on edible seaweeds. A merlin scooted over the fields, no prey there.
During one blizzard, I found a large, home-made raft on the shore and turned it into a shelter behind which I made coffee. Who needs fancy cafes, I thought, as I sat comfortably with my coffee. Not much people-watching scope though.
I kept to the shore for ease of walking on the way back, the conditions were becoming ever snowier.
