Monday mayhem
A freezing meeting on the street to study a possible regeneration project was actually quite fun despite the minus temperature at 10am. I began walking home at midday as the next snowfall brought all traffic to a standstill in town. I popped into our Waitrose corner shop again to keep stocking up on on stuff to find it was mental. Threats of further bad weather seemed to have brought on Christmas Eve madness five days early.
Roy the plasterer who lives down the road was behind me in the queue, with an elderly neighbour, who he had brought down to the shop in his Land-Rover. He is always good value and very kind. He said it was too cold for plastering, although he had tried this morning; it wasn't too cold for him.
I went for a snooze later this afternoon and woke up far too late and feeling groggy. I came down and joined Helena who was surprisingly chirpy after returning from her students, sitting in front of the fire, watching a movie. She told me it had been extreme weather outside and they had to use all their concerted will-power to get Rick's car up the hill, without sliding backwards or weaving into other cars.
Bomble was with us and in a funny mood. Usually when he gets like this, he ends up climbing the walls to get as high as possible. He was certainly eyeing up every possibility in the room. The first thing he ever did when we brought him home from the cat rescue centre was to run up to the top of a very high step-ladder, where he proceeded to make plaintiff squeaks.
He certainly wanted to get into my Blip and I only just got him out of shot, which partly accounts for my framing. This Advent Calendar is rather tacky and the selection of text in the boxes seems somewhat stark and unfeeling to me. Helena prefers her online Calendar this year. But at least it has provided me with a groggy Blip.
ps
Added minutes later .....
I just spotted this Blip from Gailfotoquests storm , which may account for Bomble's mood
