One day he was in a really good humour...

..."because he had made a mirror which had the power of making everything good and beautiful reflected in it disappear almost to nothing, while all that was bad and ugly to look at showed up clearly and appeared far worse than it really was. ... it broke into hundreds of millions, billions, and even more pieces. ... wherever they got into people's eyes, there they stayed, and then the people saw everything distortedly..."

The Snow Queen by Hans Andersen is one of my all-time favorite stories.

Usually I don't wear my ipod unless I am at the gym or doing some activity that is not around people, but today I decided to listen to it while eating lunch on my break and watching the people milling around. It was very interesting that the disconnect in the lyrics of the song and the actions around me actually made me sort of enjoy some of the sights which are generally annoying to me. Interesting how a song can change my perspective on such common and mundane things for a moment or two. Perhaps there is hope to getting that mirror out of my eyes after all... ;)
