This is our advent calendar.

1 treat left for the girls and none of us can believe it's here already.

23rd of December was my Granny's birthday.

She was a grand and elegant lady. From the age of 14 to about 20 we were sworn enemies but after that we got on very well.

When we had our kids it all changed and she became our number 1 fan of us and our kids.

I still have a huge amount of admiration and respect for the lady. Sharp as a tack to the very end. Brave enough that at 17 years old she moved from Golspie in the highlands to London where she became one of the ladies who pushed around models of tanks and planes on a huge map. She was the woman who introduced me to yahtzee, cribbage, rummy, trumps and pontoon. I wish I knew more about her.

I have huge admiration for the fact that she knew when her end was approaching and had had enough. I know she decided to stop eating to " speed the whole thing up".

I loved her very much.
