Nothing To See Here...Move Along

No apologies that I love Christmas lights and will probably take shots of them for the next several days. My star filter arrived today and I was very excited. My experiment with a DIY Lensbaby shaped aperture was not successful - but I had great fun trying.

So, I was reading online about star filters now that I had one in my hands and come to find out my camera is fully able to do this on its own in the after treatment....duh...that is so typical of how I learn. I can't learn it until I've already done it (and gotten the question defined - which is hard enough to do in the first place) and then I get flooded with info that was right in front of me.

I started this practice to try and learn my camera and here it is almost a year later and I just learned the simplest thing... What else am I missing?
