Ghosts of Christmas

As you know I photograph the wildlife in a local wood. I always go down there on Christmas day to feed the birds and I know that I will always find something that is worth blipping. This Christmas Day was no exception. Twice a year I find, at the base of a tree not far into the wood, a birthday card and a Christmas card. The birthday card always has a chocolate bar with it (usually a Mars Bar) and the sentiment inside it is usually 'Remembering you on your birthday'.
On Christmas Day the 'gift' is, invariably, a cigarette. My blip today is courtesy of Vikki who left the card. I use it because it will, I hope, echo many of the emotions felt at this time of the year in many households throughout the world. Christmas is a time of great cheer but is also a time when we remember those who cannot be here.
