Joyeaux Noel

Given that I am not religious it normally seems a little odd to surround oneday with such build up and crown it with such importance. But this Christmas has been just magic. Really lovely.

Grandad was on great form, the dinner was grand, my yule log was a triumph and the parcels and presents were all fantastic. I don't think we could have hoped for more. We also managed to fit in a bit of reminiscing about my great aunt, who is always much missed at family gatherings. I have been thinking of her much lately, especially when baking (as she was a baker extrordinaire) and Colin gave me a box set of Elvis films - whom she loved very dearly.

I managed to keep my christmas rage at bay and have been full of good cheer all day - and there hasn't been any bickering. I think this proves that my efforts to banish humbuggishness has worked.

This is my first blip christmas and I feel very lucky to have you all to share it with. It is rare to find something that so simply and consistently makes me glad and which I am thrilled to be a part of. May it be the first of many, and I hope that your day has been as lovely as mine.
