Pensive chaffinch
Our Christmas arrangements have been somewhat fluid this year! We found out on Saturday that Pete's brother had flu and so was not able to bring Pete's Mum over for out traditional Boxing Day get-together. This left us with a rather large turkey, plus lots of extra food and drink, to be shared between just six of us.
I suggested to Chris that he might like to invite some friends round, and after a bit of texting, I suddenly found we would have eleven sitting down for a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. We quickly peeled more potatoes, and cooked a gammon that I thought would no longer be required.
In the end there was plenty of food and wine, and it was really lovely to sit down for Christmas dinner surrounded by such a lovely set of young men and women, most of whom I've known since they were children. After the meal we specnt the evening playing Articulate and Balderdash - a perfect way to round off Christmas!
The culinary preparations and feasting left very little time for photography, and this image is a quick capture of a chaffinch waiting for it's Christmas dinner. I liked the slight tilt of the head, which makes him look as though he's deep in thought!
