Burying your head in the snow

I was out trying to get a good "blip" in the last hour of daylight when I saw a little brown creature scurrying across the frozen snow. I chased after him and he must have heard my steps crunching close to him, when he decided to dig into the snow. So I was left with a good opportunity of a close up of his hind quarters. I guess he felt protected as he couldn't see me and so I couldn't really be there....could I? Turned out to be a field mouse and the last I saw of him he was still running across the snow looking for shelter. Hope he made it before he was plucked up by a bird - he was not very well camouflaged!
