Apparent despair
When Pépé started crying, I held back for a minute. 'I cannot photograph this', I thought. As I struggled to contain my own tears, I reflected that some moments should remain private.
Except that he was laughing to himself, trying to remember the next bit in one of his classical Pépé's Candlelit Christmas Stories TM
Things are not always what they appear to be. And while we seem to be better at questioning words, we tend to accept images as the truth. I am always wary of images when they are used to convince us of something. Still images as well as video sequences.
And especially if they are owned by Rupert Murdock.
