New joists ...

... in the old style.
Extending the cloisters at Chithurst Monastery in time honoured fashion,
beautiful wood and good old fashioned wooden pegs. The whole
Dharma Hall is constructed this way, so although a relatively new building,
it sits well in the Sussex countryside. Barns all over the world have been
constructed using these timber frame methods for centuries. Gives the
place a nice feeling. Plus the peace of all that meditation.
Very nice on a such a drich afternoon.

Chithurst Monastery, or Watpacittaviveka, is in the lineage of the Thai Forest Tradition of Theravada Buddhism
