Teazels
Just time for a quick constitutional walk down to the River Marden at Berhills Farm through the sub-zero temperatures on Boxing Day. Most of the river was completely frozen over and I was able to reach parts of the nature reserve that is normally inaccessible because the wobbly stepping stones were encased in solid ice.
These teazels, however, were on the banks of the Marden. It never rose above -6 C that day but a rapid thaw descended overnight and by lunchtime the next day most of the snow and ice was gone.
