Uprooted

On the way back from the airport this morning I caught a few rays of sunlight on the village of Bessan across an expanse of uprooted vineyard. The metal of the crane on the left seemed to echo the wrought-iron bell tower on the church - a characteristic style in this area. The vineyard may be replanted during the spring - you can see the remains of some of the old uprooted vines on the ground.

As well as being known for its rosé wine, Bessan is where Ricard pastis is made.

Back to a very quiet house, empty after a really wonderful week. Lots of happy memories to keep us going until we see them all again in February.
