Purple Finch
While I was downloading some cardinal pictures just taken, this fine fellow landed on the swing feeder. I had to grab the small camera to catch him, and since he is not a common visitor he had to take precedence over the cardinals.
Although he is called purple, his color is reddish (purpureus from Latin meaning crimson; I had to look that up). He's about 6 inches long and is a year round resident.
It's a happy bird day.
