Clearbrook lights
A colorful evening walking around the lake under the full moon, viewing the 40,000 Christmas lights at Clearbrook park. There was a small amount of family discord and resistance from the teenage constituents prior to departure. After some mild threats of death and bodily harm they saw reason, and by the finale we all seemed to be smiling and happy.
Eleven years ago we took these same little children to Ogleby State Park to see the Christmas lights. Our life was so different then, so young, so innocent. Tonight I remembered it like it was yesterday.
This morning we enjoyed a lovely brunch at the Fort Myer officers club as guests of Sandy R. and courtesy of "Grandpa Bob" and "Diamond Lil".
Rich and Heidi also came and brought their beautiful young daughters. The food was excellent. Everyone behaved charmingly. No internacine warfare, no "f" bombs, no flatulence. We had a wonderful time.
Dr P. drove us home through fog and rain. The champagne made me weak and the rainy afternoon called for a nap. I haven't napped in months or perhaps years but today I proved I still have the knack.
And, as a "piece de resistance", the Redskins soundly defeated the Vikings. They may even make the playoffs.
