Caught in the storm

We had a severe winter storm this afternoon. As the storm was beginning and the snow was starting to come down hard hundreds of black birds appeared in our back yard. I've never seen that many birds around here at one time. It looked as though they were finding some goodies in the grass. They stayed for about a half hour then flew off to the north. You would think they would go south, but not these birds!
