Knots At Newport Wetlands
Popped down to the RSPB Reserve At Newport this afternoon, for the last visit of 2010. I was shocked to see it was still frozen solid down there! We have temperatures of 8-10degC here for the past few days, but the ice on the lakes still looked inches thick.
There was not a great deal to take a photo of. That was until we got to the shoreline. It was a high tide, so plenty of waders out in the distance (oh to be able to digiscope!). We had clocked a large flock of knots dancing in the sky when we arrived. Whilst we stood and watched they were attacked by a Peregrine or a Sparrowhawk, so they went into wild swirls and patterns.
I settled for a more serene blip. I love the colour banding in this one. Hope you like it too!
