Call Me Any, Anytime

Well, you can try, but you wont get through.

I discovered my house phone was not working on 10 December and think it was out for 10 days or more before that. I went online (yep, broadband still working) did the line test, all okay. Called BT, spoke to an engineer, they tested the line, got me to take the box thing apart on the wall, seems everything ok. They said that if they come out and the fault is in the house it'll cost me £120 - which kind of shocked me.

I therefore assumed it was the handset, it's a fairly old, 14 years or so, digital answering machine thing. It doesn't owe me any money so I guessed its time was up. So I bought this little fella this evening, charged it up and gave it a shot. Nothing. Like I said, the broadband's working there's just no dial tone and when people ring (quite rare obviously seeing as it took weeks to realise it was dead!) the phone just rings out. Mmmm, not sure what to do now.

No, it's not out of focus, I left the plastic on in case it goes back!

EDIT: Just remembered that 2 people pointed out to me at the weekend that it doesn't matter whether my phone works or not, I don't answer - ever! I'm Queen of the Screeners.
