Goldfish for the New Year

This simple but elegant sculpture was given to my daughter by a local sculptor on discovering their shared difficulties with hearing. His was caused by the noise of the heavy machinery used in his work, hers by continual burst eardrums when she was young. They are both endlessly cheerful with a disgustingly over-the-top zest for life!

The goldfish is a common symbol for the new year - bringing good luck in the form of tranquility, wisdom and long life. There's also an association with wealth, so we might as well throw that into the mix as well!

So I send out to all blippers everywhere, the luck of the goldfish for 2011!
