700th Birthday

Had a lovely big breakfast with one of SWMBOs cousins - who was organising a 'play' to be done by the youngsters at tonights 700th birthday party.

It transpired that they were short of a pair of black wings so we were tasked with tracking them down.
Black mind you - not pink or anything girlie ...... Gothic would be ideal.
And we were in a stange town.
What we came back with fitted the bill just fine I am glad to say.

So we killed some time and for a dip in the hotel pool and a good bubbling in the jacuzzi - the steam room was just too extreme (you couldn't breathe in without scalding your nose and lungs).

And the party ............... Annette felt she could cope with 700 much better than 70. Which surprised me because she is so laid back about everything.

The play went down brilliantly.
It was based on the nativity and had been written by the kids (the oldest being 11) who collaberated by e-mail and phone.
I have never laughed so much in ages.

The night was wonderful.
I had met very few of the attendees before and then very infrquently but it was as if I had been part of the family all my life.
They are very artistic and dramatic and definately not standoffish.
18 kids from just over 1 year up to 11 and not a tear, not an arguement and raised voice amoungst them even though they were on the go until after 1am.
It was a fantastic night.
