Ghost Boats of Fisherrow

After the excesses of Hogmanay, New Year's Day always feels like it needs to be a duvet day. Snuggle up on the sofa and watch some DVDs.

But as the light started to fade, I decided to get some fresh air. A walk along the front at Fisherrow harbour.

Here the boats, on stilts for the winter, stand in line. It's very quiet. Most people have indeed stayed inside. All I can hear is the gentle tapping of the boat ropes in the evening breeze.

They are the Ghost Boats. Seeing in the New Year on their own.
