Mistaken identity
One of the six Gormley statues that adorn the Water of Leith. They look a bit creepy just standing there and have often been mistaken for real people by passers by. Apparently someone once called the police thinking that one of them was a person hanging.
A set of similar statues by Gormley on New York rooftops prompted calls to police from folk thinking they were about to commit suicide. One on the Empire State building caused something like a mass panic.
Hard to believe that anyone could mistake a rusty statue for a real person but it happens. Sometimes you really cannot believe your own eyes.
