Palomena prasina

or a green shield bug, if you prefer! This is the second of two shield bugs that have emerged from our Christmas tree. The first one was brown, slightly different and we are pretty sure was a Forest Bug or pentatoma rufipes and it was very dozy. This one is very active, flies around with a scratchy buzzing noise and definitely fits all the descriptions in books, from knowledgeable friends and t'interweb!

It is now with the knowledgeable friends and has been recorded for posterity. There are folk up here recording all sorts of sightings of bugs, birds, fish, mammals etc and once everything opens again after the holidays I shall be able to find out if any others have ever been found in these parts.

If you go the the link, scroll down until you see the eggs - they are such fun looking things!
