Glencoe, Scotland.
Driving home we headed along the A82 and through Glencoe when the snow started to fall. Along with the temperature gauge on the dashboard. About ten minutes after I took this, the woman in front of us, for reasons unknown, chose to brake suddenly causing us to skid on ice over to the other side of the road and almost wind up in a ditch. I wouldn't like to speculate what would have happened had something been coming the other way. A further five minutes later the traffic all ground to a halt and slowly the word came up the (long) line of vehicles that the road was blocked somewhere further on and we should turn around. We did just this and ended up spending an unscheduled yet wholly pleasant evening in Oban. We were lucky, I suspect more than a few other were stuck for hours.
