The Ironmongers

N and I had to visit Dorchester today, the county town of Dorset, known as Casterbridge in Thomas Hardy's "The Mayor of Casterbridge". It was good to have a change of scene albeit briefly. This iromongers caught my eye in South Street, one of the few remaining old-fashioned businesses. Although this shop was only established in 1961 it has stood its ground over the years against the large stores in the retail park. It is a delight to step inside and have a good browse: all manner of useful items can be found.

The vet is coming this afternoon to examine two cows, test some calves for TB, then N and Tim have to eartag the bull again - he is being sold tomorrow at Frome Market along with another cow.
