Is it a bird?

I stepped outside my front door this morning to the very welcome sight of a beautiful blue sky, disturbed only by plane trails. I liked the way this caught the sunlight. Yes, sunlight, hurrah!

What a difference half a day makes: the dogs and I went for a walk after lunch with my friend Selina (who is Basil's favourite person in the whole world) and got completely soaked in the rain that began just as we set off. We warmed up with a cup of tea and a slice of Christmas cake afterwards. Nobody else here eats Christmas cake so I've been diligently working my way through it. Half down, half to go...
