Sledding
Back in August, we attended the Back to School BBQ at Elkhorn (Gracie's school). They had a silent auction going on that night as a fundraiser. After perusing the things being auctioned, Emily decided we just had to bid on a two night stay at a Tahoe cabin. The auction was coming to a close and I had to make a decision. Admittedly, I'm not good at making spur-of-the-moment financial decisions but decided to go for it. We were not outbid in the last five minutes of the auction and were the purchasers of a two night stay in Tahoe. We had only gone to Tahoe in the summer months and the kids had always talked about going in the winter to do some snow play. We decided we'd go up just after Christmas.
I hit the thrift store in the fall to outfit everyone in snow pants and some friends came through with loaner snow gloves/boots. The cabin was small but very cozy and clean.
Although the big girls and I didn't end up snow boarding like we'd originally wanted, we had a blast sledding down many hills and hiking around the cabin's neighborhood. Even Jack was fearless flying down the hills on our assortment of sleds and saucers.
This blip is of Grant and Emily sliding down one of the hills at the nearby high school.
