Spike
The INWOOD PARK resident EASTERN BOX TURTLE who is leading a lonely life. These turtles are increasing endangered by loss of habitat and by human indifference. They are docile, tameable creatures that require semi wild habitat but can survive with people. Years ago there was a half acre field next to our house that had at least 4 of these living there. we used to find them and put them in an open hot bed from which they would escape after several weeks, eventually they became tame enough to be hand fed and not close up when we handled them. Then a house was built on the lot and they were not included on the Environmental Impact statement. Only kidding there was no environmental impact statement. This has happened with almost every house built in this country. Wildlife is destroyed that no one knows, or even cares if, it exists.
