Late Night Stroll along the Beach

This is idyllic, but what is hidden is the fact that just prior to this the boy had lost the neighbours kayak paddle in the sea when he was retrieving the inflatable and bringing it round to the boat ramp. They kayaked ( is that a word? ) out to get the boat and must have not put the paddle into the boat properly. The neighbour was not impressed, and said so, and it was all on, with 9 of us, and 2 of them in another inflatable, out looking for the invisible paddle in the descending dark.
It is still missing and now an hour later we have given up, and there are some who are making plans for a dawn rise and search. The rest of us are looking up replacements on the internet and going to bed for a long sleep in...
