Thistle Down

By Ethel

Rain-Bow Colors

A rain-bow hung in colors,
As a shower drifted by,
T'was a spectacle of beauty,
That arched across the sky.

The air was filled with droplets,
That glistened in the sun.
And the splashing to the gutter,
Made a rivulet to run.

Bars of shafted beauty,
Made our eyes to see.
The magnitude of the heavens,
In sweet tranquility.

Mistiness shown far and wide,
So soft within a beam.
In fairy-shades it caught the air,
Upon a constant gleam.

It caught the bosom of the hills,
And brought soft-tresses down.
To light each silvery Talisman,
Placed on a sky of gown.
