Second Day, Hungarian villages by the Danube
A tough wakeup this morning, something that we knew will happen, and we rushed for some much needed breakfast. Today the plan was for a tour of a couple of villages around the Danube, namely Szentendre and Visegrad. Very picturesque indeed and the fog and the snow made the whole countryside truly beautiful. We had the chance to do some shopping in the first village and found one of the prettiest music shop combined with a coffee shop. There, while we enjoyed a hot cup of coffee the owner played some of the CD's we were interested in.
In the evening after lunch we were told that pretty much everywhere would be closed as it was holiday. In spite of this we decided to have a walk outside and just in time to enjoy the light falling snow. After some time we found that the only open place was a kosher place where we had a couple of beers and a long chat.
Upon returning to the hotel we realized that we wouldn't be allowed to take the bottle of liqueur we had bought on the plane home so as not to keep on carrying it around we sat for a few hours in the hotel's bar (also closed because of the holiday) and manage to finish it off! It was a really good liqueur (made from marzipan) so it would have been a shame to throw it away :-)
