Old phones, more ducks

Me and my girls geared up for the sandy waterfront but with the news about shark sightings at our favorite beach spot, we diverted our route to the Boulevard Centre and the local Library.

The library foyer displayed this handsome fellow, all made from recycled tin, has persuaded us to participate in a new recycling project for a good cause.

"Mobile Muster" is continuing to promote mobile phone collections over the Christmas and New Year period with an "Old Phones More Ducks" campaign. Mobile Muster will give a duck to a family living in poverty in Mozambique for every two handsets sent in for recycling. Up to 1000 ducks will be donated.

The ducks will truly make a difference to families by producing eggs that they can eat and sell at market to generate income. This is a great opportunity for everyone to help those less fortunate simply by recycling old mobile phones, including their batteries, chargers and accessories.

The girls thought they could make use of our old phones after all.

*Little Peanut stood there for minutes and was so amused by the recycled figure. :)
