Steel Comb
I have this week only properly discovered Florence and the Machine, and I'm at the stage where I can't stop listening to her. On the bus, on my way to work, in the house, whilst I type. Bloody brilliant. One rather unfortunate side effect is that I find all her songs very emotionally charged and quite often feel myself getting a bit weepy or ecstatically happy. Bit awkward on the bus. The lyrics have started to wind themselves around my head - so whatever I see I start to compare or link to them. I currently love:
"I must become a lion hearted girl
Ready for a fight".
I think because I've wanted to make some big changes for a while but felt a bit incapable the lion hearted bit is resonating.
Had a great day at work. S launched into a rendition of "School's Out for Summer" at the tea table, complete with very manly grunts. And of course he mangaed to insert Jimmy's name - as he is able to do with any song. He then proceded to call me "Bonny Maeg" all morning and chuckle at whatever I said. We were drawing a teapot and I said we needed to draw the spout, at which he laughed his very dirty laugh, gave me a lechy wink, and exclaimed that we couldn't have tea without a teapot with a spout. And tea is this man's area of expertise.
Similarily J surprised me big time. Normally any news is shared immediately, the moment she is in the door. But today she kept pretty quiet, telling me about Christmas and new pj's, until ten minutes to go. She then spilled out that tonight she will pack, put her bag in the car, drive south and go and stay with her Boy (brother) this weekend. All the while looking very pleased with herself at this secret keeping. I hope she has a nice time.
Me and Colin started the weekend with a trip to the Mosque for curry - very tasty but I did wonder if we were a bit crazy as we dined al fresco as it snowed.
