Ring my bell!

Back before everyone had a mobile/cell phone in their pocket, places like farmyards and stables would have these loud external telephone ringers so that people working out of doors could hear the bell and run indoors to answer it.

This set was still in place below an upstairs window, although no longer in use, when we arrived here over 15 years ago. It's almost an antique now and it would be sacrilege to get rid of it but over the years I haven't been able to resist adding to its charms. I don't know what visitors think: no one's ever mentioned it.
