I took an alternative route for my Saturday morning stroll into Stroud and took this shot from the top of Nelson Street, which drops down to the town centre.

This is normally the best time of the week to see Stroud, but the famous farmers' market was short of a few stalls and visitors and there wasn't quite the same bubbly atmosphere that there normally is.

Meanwhile, there were rather too many people in the shops that I had to visit as bargain-hunters jostled for the final few sale goodies.

This isn't the best shot, but it does offer a hint of the magic of Stroud. Beyond the homes, shops and churches in the town itself are beautiful views of hills, fields and woods dotted with Cotswold stone cottages.
