Blue ice

This was taken this morning in bright sunshine at a local reservoir. Most of the water was covered in thick ice, just some patches near the edges were free. Here light snow still covered the ice on the banks, the ice on the water was beginning to crack.

I am somewhat surprised at the blueness of the ice on the water, guessed it must be reflected from the bright blue sky.
