Location, location, location
A crash-the-car view in East Lothian. This perfect arrangement of 3 of East Lothian's most characteristic landmarks pops up at Scoughall on the North Berwick road. We always hear about the defensive position of castles, and sure enough Tantallon is strategically placed. But look at the view! It must have influenced the location. The semi-circular castle (clearly visible on the map linked above) faces into the prevailing Westerly wind, but it must have been bitterly cold all the same. After a long renovation the castle now has no visible scaffolding and looks tremendous.
We drove out to Dirleton today to meet Rojo and family. Clare works for Historic Scotland, so despite my membership card being out of date it was a cheap day out! More pics on Flickr.
It was cold so we didn't stay too long and headed back to our house for hot chocolate and cakes (thanks!). It was great to see our friends and the little ones decided a sleep-over would be in order - but not tonight kids! We'll get that sorted out soon.
