broken saguaro
The magnificent saguaro in our line of sight beyond our yard fence fell down on New Years Eve whilst we were away.
I am very sad about it.
It was about 50 feet high, with three arms, and many buds that would have developed into arms eventually. Maybe 150 years old.
I spent endless hours watching the hawks & woodpeckers that used to use it as home base. We can still see it (lying horizontally now!) - broken into many bits.
This shows the inner core skeleton which will in some years be all that is left of it.
