Lake Brunner

Did an easier mountain bike ride today, up the Totara Valley. 15km up the gently rising valley on a 4WD track above the Totara river, then a short, sharp descent to the Mokinui River. I then reversed the route - a steep grind back up the hill and the long valley descent. Most of the time the gradient was only just off dead flat, but it was enough to really HAMMER it. I was flying!

This afternoon we packed up, bade farewell to Hokitika and drove to Lake Brunner to stay with friends. This is the evening view of the lake and mountains.
