Windfall
Not much in terms of a blip, but this is a portion of a windfall I received purely by luck. A local commercial photo lab closed up shop and left behind a bunch of equipment. I was called by a company moving out one of the mini-labs with a question if they needed to worry about hazardous chemicals. Found me in the phone book. After some discussion I made an appointment to go down to see if there was anything useful. Lots of big stuff I had absolutely no room for, but there were some enlargers, computers, printers, and other resellable stuff, including a Chromira printer that was just going to go to the dump. I didn't get any of the enlargers or the vaccuum presses, they were gone when we went back to scavenge.
A friend of mine took away 2 computers and 3 monitors, a file cabinet and misc. items to fill his car. I took away 2 truckloads of stuff, computers (one is a server with 1.5 TB of Hard drives - Yahooo!), monitors, a very nice office desk, battery back-ups, networking routers and switches, a variety of replacement parts, enlarger lenses, enlarging easels, light bulbs, a photo retouching kit, etc. I'll be picking up the Chromira printer on Saturday and it will be up for sale next week hopefully. I still need to go through it all and catalog it. Some I will use, the rest will either be sold or donated. I have about 100+ pounds of Kodak paper, as well, ranging from 5x7 to 16x20. If anyone is interested, let me know and I can email you a list. I'll ship to the U.S. or Canada only, unfortunately.
This blip is of a thermal label printer. Retails new for $1400. It's on Ebay. My garage has been turned into a warehouse.
I've also been getting ready for a trip to Uruguay in February. Let's see if I can learn some Spanish in 6 weeks.
Happy Holidays!
