Cheap Steel

As some of you might know I am doing a restoration project on a old woodfired stove. A few weeks ago I emailed a few steel merchants to get prices for some steel for parts I need to manufacture. Well the quotes came back around $450 which is a bit too much.

I decided to pay a visit to our local steel merchant today and asked if I could have a look at what is on their scrap pile. He was more than happy for me to take some off his hands and charged me only $15.

What I took will go a long way to recreating the oven part of the stove and there is plenty more where that came from.

Bargain.
