Coral

This is my horse for the trek up the Cochamo valley, his name is Coral. He´s got the same character traits as Jack, mrsEG´s horse. He´s quite slow and a bit stubborn, and only wants to stop and eat....

These trails are amazing, really steep and rocky, with huge steps and tricky drops, wet logs at all angles and loose rocks. MrsEG said that if you took a horse here in he UK you would be accused of being irresponsible. I loved it though, it was proper gnarly technical horse riding!! (I just held on and grinned!) These horses are amazing in their sure-footedness and skill.

The mountain lodge was fabulous, high in the valley with sheer cliffs of granite all around, I could see how it is known as he Yosemite of Chile. The lodge had a great big verandah, and a really cozy living area heated by the stove. There was no electricity either. great. The family who lived on the neighbouring farm cooked a lovely dinner.

We shared the lodge with the 3 other guests: Peter and Martha an elderly couple from North Carolina, and Ian, a new zealander who had sailed to chile from NZ. Good company.
