Wet Wood

Out walking the dog this morning in Victoria Park I came across this tree stump. I tried to count the rings that were visible, but with the middle missing it would have been to difficult to try and age.

The park also has an ancient fossilised forest within it's grounds. The forest was found in the late 1880's by the workmen who were developing the park. The fossilised trees are around 330 million years old.
