Salt Mill, Saltaire

It was to be Skipton today.
I had the morning off, and so his Lordship and I decided to train it to the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales with the 'This Train is the Skipton Train' from Shipley.

So we set off in a drizzle with a bit of a wind and arrived in Skipton in pouring rain with the mist down low on the fields.Even the poor sheep looked blackened and sodden with water standing in flooded fields and the beautiful scenery of the Dales was shrouded in a misty gloom.

We managed to make it onto the station concourse when His Lordship having found we had a bit of a walk to the centre of the town decided that it was madness to continue in the rain, so we about turned and got the train back to Saltaire to Salt Mill and shelter.
Skipton will have to wait for another day.

The weather was slightly better in Saltaire and we had a very interesting walk about the galleries before meeting Daughter #5 and family for lunch.

Unfortunately, the Skipton weather had caught up with us when we left, and we climbed up to the house on the hill in rain and wind. Such a pity, but at least the rain was warmish.
