North Clyde Electrics

In November 1960 the North Clyde Electrics started replacing the previous steam hauled services through Glasgow Queen Street Level.

At the entrance to the platforms at Glasgow Queen Street here are the commemorative plaques for the 1960 start, the 1985 25th anniversary ceremony and another for the 40th anniversary in 2000.

In December 2010 the line east of Airdrie was extended to meet up with the line at Bathgate
