Slate Sheep Yards
Day 2 - Naseby to Moa Creek - a huge day, so many photo opportunities which we took advantage of, not arriving at Moa Creek until 8.30 pm!! Didn't know what to choose for today's blip but thought these sheep yards and what they were constructed with was very interesting.
Built by a father and son in the early 1920's, of large schist rocks.
A bonus for us was an amazing sky - put the polorarizer on for dramatic effect.
We also went to a salt lake (but not found) However, heaps of picies later we set off up & over The Old Dunstan Trail dropping down into the Maniototo Valley, visited an old jail site before continuing over another range to drop down into the Ida Valley - a totally brilliant day, stunning landscapes, vastness, no vehicles, heaps more pictures, Loganburn & Poolburn Dams and much much more......we stayed at the old Moa Creek Hotel, now used only for accommodation only, what a welcome we received, real Central Otago hospitality - outstanding.....there are not enough adjectives to describe this area!!!
Katey had a birthday today, so there were many special celebrations, cakes and surprises - this topped off a memorable day....*sigh*
