Sunday: 1/2011
I am quite fussy about second-hand books. I think I am afraid that I might find a pork pie, or rasher of bacon, stuck in between the pages. These old Penguin classics, though, are an exception. They would have to be in a really ropey condition for me not to gravitate towards them.
Each year, I try and read at least a couple of books more than in the previous year. My total for 2010 was 39, so I need to try and better that. This is my first book for this year, having just finished my last read of 2010 ('Race of a Lifetime', about the Clinton/Obama race to the White House - what an ending! I never saw it coming!). I think this book is about commuting.
My favourite reads for 2010 were:
1. 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning', Alan Sillitoe (brilliant, also loved the film);
2. 'The Life and Death of Radclyffe Hall', Una Troubridge (hilarious, the pair of them were barking mad!);
3. 'A View From the Foothills', Chris Mullin
Have been backblipping the last couple of days, from here onwards (if you are interested).
