Waiting patiently

This is the double bass belonging to Giovanni Valgimigli, of the Accademia Bizantina who accompanied Andreas Scholl, the German countertenor, who gave a concert of the music of Purcell in the Town Hall Birmingham.

This magnificent small orchestra, who adopt the approach of a chamber group and "weave together like the tiles of a Byzantine mosaic", are stunningly led by concertmaster Stefano Montanari. He plays first violin and conducts and steers this elegant and enthusiastic group.... well worth catching them

(Oh, and Andreas Scholl was manificent too...)
